The toolkit
What is Schizm, exactly?
It's a toolkit of two little apps, Clausage and Clauswitch, designed for people running more than one Claude account.
Clausage lives in your Mac's menu bar and monitors your accounts' usage. Clauswitch is a VS Code extension that switches and pins your Claude accounts as needed. They are built to line up nicely on one machine, but each is complete on its own.
Doesn't Claude already show usage?
It does, but only for the account you are actively using at the moment. The toolkit helps you monitor and manage more of them at the same time, without performing an OAuth dance every time you need to switch or check another account.
Do I need Claude Code?
You need it installed and signed in at least once, but you don't have to actively use it. The toolkit uses the logins Claude Code keeps on your machine to discover your accounts and fetch fresh usage numbers for them.
Is it Mac-only?
Clausage is a macOS app, exclusively. Clauswitch runs wherever VS Code does, on macOS, Linux and Windows, and everything it offers works on all three.
Do I need both apps?
No. Each works fully on its own, but when both are installed, they team up and share data, making the whole operation more efficient.
How do you even run multiple Claude accounts on one machine?
Through a mechanism Claude Code itself provides: each login lives in its own config directory, and an environment variable decides which one a new session picks up.
If you are just starting your multi-account setup, check out our guide, which walks you through it: running multiple Claude accounts on one machine.
Free & Pro
Why does the free VS Code extension show no usage?
Monitoring usage is Clausage's primary job, and it does that free, in your Mac's menu bar. Pro brings usage numbers directly into your editor as well, to complement the switching.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Pro is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no renewal fee to watch out for. Every future update is included.
How does one license cover two apps?
One key activates Pro in both. Paste it into either app and the other picks it up, whether it is already installed or you add it later. The key is verified on your own machine. Our buy page has the full picture of how the license works.
Can I use one license on more than one machine?
Yes. You are free to activate Pro on every machine you use. No need to register or shuffle things around.
Can I try Pro before committing?
Yes. Every purchase comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Use Pro for a month with your accounts, your work, your actual setup, and if it isn't for you, one quick support email gets your money back. Check out our refund policy.
Usage numbers
Where do the usage numbers come from?
The apps read what Claude Code has cached on your machine, and if the cache is stale, they request your usage data from the same endpoint Claude Code uses.
How often do the usage numbers update?
Numbers for each of your accounts are updated on a rolling schedule, which stretches as you add more accounts, so the total request rate stays flat rather than growing with the number of accounts. There are settings that influence this, but with one account you can expect it to refresh about once per minute, with two about once per two minutes each, and so on. The system is built to keep up to about ten accounts reasonably fresh.
Why are the numbers different from what claude.ai shows?
They shouldn't be, apart from slight timing and rounding differences. Usage data is shared across Claude surfaces, and the Schizm apps show the same usage windows and usage credits Anthropic's services report.
What happens if Anthropic changes the endpoint the numbers come from?
When the endpoint changes, we adapt and release updates to keep the apps compatible. If the source of usage data ever goes away entirely (which is unlikely), switching functionality in Clauswitch will keep working but the usage numbers will stop updating in both apps, and recent Pro purchases will be refunded. See our Cutoff Clause to learn more.
Trust & privacy
Do the apps need my Claude credentials?
You never hand them over. There is no Schizm sign-in and nothing to paste. Both apps work with the accounts already signed into Claude Code on your machine, using the tokens it keeps for them to fetch fresh usage data. The token is sent only to Anthropic, where Claude Code already sends it, and never to us or anyone else. Everything else the apps know about your accounts stays on your machine.
Is running multiple accounts allowed?
Yes, Claude Code supports this. It keeps a separate config directory for each login and documents the way to switch between them, and that is all the toolkit builds on.
What leaves my machine?
We collect anonymous diagnostics and analytics, and both apps disclose that fully on first run. This reporting exists so we can keep improving the apps, and whether you leave it on is purely up to you. Our transparency page lists everything we collect, from this website and from each of the apps.
We never collect your tokens, account names, usage numbers or anything Claude returns to you in sessions. All of that stays on your machine.
Is this an official Anthropic app?
No. Schizm is an independent project and is not affiliated with Anthropic.
